frequently asked rain drop questions

Q: I am doing fine on GAMMAGARD S/D. Why must I switch to GAMMAGARD LIQUID?

A: Baxter is replacing GAMMAGARD S/D with GAMMAGARD LIQUID. We have made many improvements in our next generation GAMMAGARD LIQUID including:

  • a formulation that is free of added sugar, added sodium, or preservatives, plus latex-free packaging;
  • a dedicated 3-step process specifically designed for viral inactivation/removal;
  • a number of improvements that will make administration easier for healthcare professionals.

With the exception of a small number of IgA sensitive patients who will be able to continue to receive GAMMAGARD S/D, all other GAMMAGARD S/D patients will be transitioned to the improved GAMMAGARD LIQUID.

Q: Are you discontinuing GAMMAGARD S/D?

A: We have no intention of discontinuing GAMMAGARD S/D. GAMMAGARD LIQUID has an average IgA content of 37 µg/mL. Baxter continues to offer GAMMAGARD S/D, with a maximum IgA content of 2.2 µg/mL for 5% formulation, for those patients who require a low IgA therapy.
